Wheel locks are what customers often have a hard time figuring out. Bike manufacturers make a variety of axle types: Quick Release, Thru and Solid.
Here are a few ways to determine what size of skewer you need:
- Remove your existing axle – the specifications are sometimes found printed on the axle.
- Check your bike manufacturers website for specs.
- Measure:
- THRU AXLE: Measure the fork-to-fork length of your existing axle, the diameter of the axle head, and the thread pitch.
- SOLID AXLE: Measure your existing wheel axle diameter. Note that the front and rear diameter might be different.
- COLLAR LOCK: Measure the diameter of your seat tube. We also offer a universal collar lock that fits all sizes.

Returns & Warranty
If your Pinhead product doesn’t work for you for any reason, we offer a 30-day money back guarantee. You will be responsible for return shipping costs. Money will be refunded promptly once Pinhead receives the returned product.
Please note: Pinhead can only provide a refund on purchases from our online store. If you purchased your Pinhead product through a different online store or via a local retailer, please return directly.
Pinhead products are warranted to be free from defects under normal use conditions. We will replace any defective article free of charge for the lifetime of the original purchaser. This warranty is void if damage is a result of misuse, negligence, accidents or improper care. Incidental or consequential damages are specifically excluded.
